Social Media Storytelling Course
Narrative Writing
Find your tone and uncover the secrets to writing stories that leave an impression.
About this class
Workshop Overview
Behind every headline is a person. Behind every social issue is a story. And behind every story that truly resonates is a human perspective.
At RICE Media, storytelling has never been about chasing trends, it’s about understanding how real issues shape real lives. The pieces that stay with readers long after they finish scrolling aren’t just informative, they are human, thoughtful, and relatable.
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to turn current affairs into meaningful narrative content that connects with audiences on a deeper level. You’ll uncover how to identify the human angle behind everyday events, develop compelling story perspectives, and craft narratives that feel authentic, reflective, and impactful.
From shaping strong openings and structuring emotional story arcs to adapting your writing for social media captions, blog-style reflections, and short documentary-style video concepts, this workshop introduces the same storytelling principles that power some of RICE Media’s most distinctive content.
This workshop covers:
- Finding story ideas from current affairs and social trends
- Identifying the human impact behind headlines
- Crafting engaging narrative hooks and story openings
- Structuring stories for clarity, emotion, and reader connection
- Writing for social media, short-form articles, and digital platforms
- Translating written narratives into simple video storytelling concepts
- Planning short mobile-shot narrative content
- Understanding audience response and engagement signals
- Practising responsible and ethical storytelling about real-world issues
Whether you’re a writer, content creator, marketer, educator, or simply someone who wants to make sense of the stories shaping our society, this workshop equips you with the tools to transform everyday observations into thoughtful, human-centred content that resonates.
