Workshop Overview
This hands-on course is designed for aspiring music creators who want to turn musical ideas into fully produced songs using accessible digital tools. Whether you play guitar casually or simply enjoy experimenting with sound, the course focuses on how to transform simple musical ideas into complete tracks using BandLab, a powerful and free digital audio workstation (DAW).
Participants will learn how to record guitar, vocals, and other sounds, then layer and shape them into a full production using loops, digital instruments, and audio effects. With BandLab available on both desktop and mobile devices, learners will discover how music production can be done easily from a home setup or even on the go.
Throughout the workshop, you will explore the fundamentals of modern music production, including:

Music Production SkillsFuture Course
Is the course fee SkillsFuture claimable?
Yes, learners may choose to use SkillsFuture Credit to pay for the course fees. SkillsFuture Credits are only eligible for Singaporeans above 25 years old. You may check your balance here.
Do I need to know how to play the guitar before taking this course?
Yes. This course is intended for learners who already have basic guitar-playing skills. You should be able to play common open chords and strum in time. We won’t be teaching the basics of guitar playing, instead, you’ll be using your guitar skills to create and produce original music tracks.
I’m a complete beginner at guitar. Can I still join this course?
This course may be challenging for complete beginners, as it assumes a basic familiarity with guitar playing. We recommend starting with a beginner guitar class first, then joining this course when you’re comfortable with basic chords and strumming.
What software or tools will I be using?
We’ll be using BandLab, a free and user-friendly Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) that works on both desktop and mobile devices. You’ll learn to record, mix, and produce your music directly on this platform.
For the course, we would highly recommend that learners bring their own laptops. (Laptops will be provided subject to availability)
Will I get to complete a music project by the end of the course?
Yes, by the end of the course, you’ll create and present a simple original track featuring guitar, vocals, and digital elements — all produced by you.
Do I need to bring my own guitar or equipment?
All necessary equipment, including guitars, will be provided for use during the course. If you have your own guitar, feel free to bring it along!
