About this class

Workshop Overview

Video content is a huge part of our everyday lives. Videos help to attract, engage and delight viewers that could eventually be converted to potential customers. In order to achieve that, you will need a certain level of filming and video editing skills.

In this workshop, learners will gain an in-depth understanding of videography techniques in planning and shooting a simple short video. Next, students will apply technical video editing on mobile applications to edit their videos with effects and transitions.

Overall, students will touch on:

An understanding of the current video trends and practices on YouTube and Instagram.
Understanding what makes a video go viral
Planning and conceptualizing a short video
Camera angles and movements for capturing simple yet professional looking video footages
Introduction to videography lighting and equipment (e.g. gimbals)
Video editing skills to add smooth transitions, audio clips, texts, and simple effects to your videos

At the end of this workshop, learners will be equipped with the skills to produce a video that is suitable for social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, TikTok and Instagram.

How long is the workshop, and what is the schedule like?

Our Videography course is 3 days (24 hours) in duration and we have both weekday and weekend intakes available.

What mobile applications can be used for video editing?

With the advent of short-form video applications such as TikTok and Instagram, mobile video and video editing apps are starting to take off. There are many video editing apps out there in the market ranging from free to use to paid ones.

In this workshop, students will be learning about Capcut and VN, two of the most comprehensive free mobile video editing apps in the market today.

Will i need any experience to join this videography and video editing course?

This course is designed to be beginner-friendly. You do not need any pre-qualification in videography or video editing. The only requirement is to have a smartphone with a camera and the application store for a video editing app.

Is my smartphone camera enough to capture professional looking videos?

Most smartphones can now shoot video. In fact, some can shoot good-quality 4K video, though 1080p is still good enough for YouTube. Smartphones are very portable and almost always handy, which makes them very useful for travel to capture the most spontaneous memories.

Can I take this course if I have a limited budget for equipment and software?

Absolutely. We’ll discuss various options, including affordable equipment and free or low-cost video editing software, ensuring you can get started without breaking the bank.
